Join me again this year for another installment of Cleveland's rich history.  We will begin our day at Burke Lakefront Airport where we will join our guide, John of JKL Tours - the noted Cleveland historian, as our guide.  Our day will include Gordon Park and Lakeshore Park, Dike 14, a natural habitat created on the waterfront by sinking ore boats to protect the shoreline.  Next we will visit the Cold War of the 50's and see a launch site that once held 30 missiles.  The Millionaire Mansions of Bratenahl is next followed by the Waterloo Arts District.  Lunch at a small out of the way eatery in Lakewood followed by Whiskey Island and Wendy Park.  This area is now a growing skyline of the city.  The original Chinatown is on the agenda and a stop at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame with time to visit their gift shop.  Our day will be complete as we visit Cle's newest neighborhood, Hingetown, supporting new boutiques and an avant gated Art Gallery created from an old Transformer Station.  This is a most unique mix of Cle's history, today's attractions and a peak into the future of our city.  This is sure to be a sell out so sign up ASAP.  Lunch will be a treat!!

​This exuberant jukebox celebration transports us on a nostalgic musical journey back to the 60's featuring 40 classic chart toppers (and Aqua Net glisting coiffures, of course).  This groovy retro-revue features highlight from the Supremes melodies to Janis Joplin's heart rending rasp and Aretha Franklin's soul and much more.  We'll do an early dinner following the 1:30 PM matinee at a new venue in downtown - Yours Truly Restaurant where you will have a limited menu from which to choose.

It's a simple day of early summer pleasure - lunch at Mon Ami Restaurant & Winery in Port Clinton.  This beautiful welcoming property will make a great lunch destination.  We'll do a little wine tasting, enjoy an included lunch and then visit the Marblehead Lighthouse followed by a ride out to Catawba and an ice cream treat on the way home.  Reserve early for this "pure pleasure" day.

Tue Jul 10            Explore Toledo Highlights - Brats, Dogs and a Bit of Nature                                    $88 pp

We will head out today and visit Toledo's newest attraction - the National Museum of the Great Lakes.  This museum tells the story of our inland seas from the ships they've claimed to their vital role in building an industrialized nation.  Beyond the indoor exhibits you can choose the SS Col. James M. Schoonmaker freighter, christened in 1911, she spent decades on the Great Lakes.  Following our visit lunch is included at Tony Packo's.  Then we are off to the Toledo Botanical Gardens - a true gem to wander and enjoy.

Tue Jul 24             "Pajama Game"                    Ohio Light Opera                                                          $122 pp

This is about the best natured, funniest musical you will ever see!  This 1954 Broadway smash hit ran for 1000 performances and delighted the crowds.  This engaging story centers on the budding but tense romance between pajama factory foreman, Sid and union boss Babe, who is trying hard on behalf of the employees to wrangle a raise out of Sid's boss.  Delirious daffy delight describes this fun show that produced an amazing array of music:  "I'm Not At All in Love", "Once a Year Day", "Hey There", "Steam Heat", "Small Talk", "There Once Was a Man", and the unforgettable "Hernando's Hideaway".  We will have a preshow lunch at T.J.'s Restaurant where you will choose from a limited menu of entrees.

DINNER, DRINKS and a DEAD GUY?...a fun afternoon with good food is what you will find as you board the Old Road Dinner Train.  We'll travel at a leisurely pace as we dine and watch the mystery unfold in our midst.  Be prepared to be a part of the show and you may even be the "unfortunate victim" - you never know!  Following this experience we'll visit the new Blissfield Model Railroad Club - an amazing display of working model railroads.  Then we'll treat ourselves to a stop at Russell Stover Candy Outlet.  They even serve "ice cream".

Thu Oct 11              "Stolen"                                  Ohio Star Theater, Sugarcreek                             $102 pp

Take a day to enjoy Amish Country and the newest performance at the Ohio Star Theater.  A small PA community is shaken when the infant son of a prominent Amish family is kidnapped.  A quirky, bumbling detective takes on the case with no leads and frustrations mounting, the case grows cold for 20 years.  Everyone is thrown into turmoil again when Naomi the infants sister, reopens the case and solves the old mystery!  Lunch is included at the Dutch Valley Restaurant prior to the 1PM matinee.  We'll do some shopping following this mystery.

Broadway is sending one of its great revivals our way this October - "Hello Dolly".  This winner of 4 Tonys including Best Revival, broke box office records continually and received thunderous reviews.  This gorgeous new production is a must see - a musical comedy dream staring Betty Buckley.  Early dinner following the 1 PM matinee is included in Little Italy.  This is sure to sell out, reserve early!!

Our first Christmas get-away takes us to Kirtland for an awesome annual exhibit of 600+ nativity sets (one of the top 100 places to visit at Christmas time), 100,000 outdoor lights, sacred music and most unique stamp collection.  We'll have a great lunch at Skye Bistro in Mentor (sure to be decorated for the season) and check out the Gingerbread House Display at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens - unique each year, designed by every age group and talent level!  Really a fun exhibit, sign up early to ensure you don't miss out.

It isn't Christmas unless you spend some time with "Mr. Claus" and we have a special date with him at Castle Noel in Medina- a one of a kind museum of Christmas past and present.  If you have been there before it is always evolving and changing.  Lunch will be at Papa Joe's in Akron followed by a visit to Stan Hywet Hall where "Deck the Halls" is in full swing.  Enjoy a guided tour of the house from 3 PM to 4 PM then visit the cafe & gift shop until 5 PM when the grounds come alive with "lights.  Visit the green house and enjoy hot cider from one of the many vendors open for the evening.  We'll depart by 6 PM.

Cleveland's most popular event - the Christmas Concert at Severance Hall is on our "to do list" this year.  We will have first floor seating in the coveted rolls N-S, raised and perfect view of the full stage orchestra and chorus.  We will enjoy a preshow lunch in Little Italy at Nido's - the finest Little Italy has to offer, followed by the 2:30 matinee.  A cruise thru the light of downtown will fill out this Christmas day away.
